1. Overview
Spending Accounts help users manage the money sources they use in the app, such as Cash, Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, and more. Splitting them into multiple accounts makes it easier to track balances clearly, record the correct source of each transaction, and manage personal finances more effectively.
2. Steps to Follow
2.1. Add a New Account
To create an additional account for managing each money source separately, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Open the app, select the Accounts tab, then tap the ➕ icon to add a new Spending Account.
Step 2: Enter the account information:
- Enter the opening balance
- Enter the account name
- Select the account type
Note: When selecting a Credit Card account, you need to provide some additional information:
- Opening balance (the remaining amount you can still use on the card at the time of account setup)
- Credit limit
- Currency
- Due date reminder (toggle the button to the right to enable reminders from MISA MoneyKeeper when the credit card repayment due date is approaching)
Tap Save to complete the setup.
Step 3: By default, all accounts created by users are included in reports.
If you do not want transactions from this account to appear in reports, toggle the button to the right to enable Exclude from reports mode.
Step 4: Tap Save again to complete the account creation.
2.2. Edit an Account
To update account information when changes occur, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Tap the three-dot button on the account you want to edit, then select Edit.
Step 2: Update the information as needed, such as:
- Opening balance
- Account name
- Account type
- Other related information
Step 3: Tap Save to complete.
2.3. Delete an Account
To delete an account that is no longer needed, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Tap the three-dot button on the account you want to delete, then select Delete.
Step 2: The system will display a delete warning. Tap Agree to confirm deletion.
You have now completed the account deletion process.
2.4. Adjust Balance
If the actual amount of money and the account balance in MISA MoneyKeeper do not match, you can use the Adjust Balance feature to update the balance accurately.
To update the account balance when the actual amount and the app balance do not match, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Tap the three-dot button for the account you want to update, then select Adjust Balance.
Step 2: Adjust the balance:
- Enter the actual balance
- Select a category for the difference
The system will automatically calculate the amount spent to update the balance correctly according to the current amount.
Step 3: Tap Save to complete.
2.5. Transfer Money
To transfer money between two spending accounts, please follow these steps:
Example: Transfer from a Bank Account to a Cash Wallet.
Step 1: Tap the three-dot button next to the account you want to transfer from.
Step 2: Tap Transfer.
Step 3: Enter the transfer information:
- Enter the amount
- Select the destination account
- Description: You can note the reason for the transfer
- Go to Add details to enter the transfer fee, if any
Step 4: Tap Save.
3. Notes / Troubleshooting
- You should name accounts clearly and distinctly, such as Cash Wallet, Bank Account, or Credit Card, to make recording and tracking more convenient.
- If you do not want transactions from an account to be included in reports, you can enable Exclude from reports mode when creating or editing the account.
- When deleting an account, please check carefully before confirming. Once a Spending Account is deleted, it cannot be restored, so make sure to consider carefully before deleting any account.
- Each user can create a maximum of 2 Spending Accounts. Upgrade to Premium to create an unlimited number of Spending Accounts.
